As Robert J. Gorlin, D.D.S., Et. Alphabet-soup, he was an international academic celebrity, but in the halls of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, Bob was an infamously vivid character, and in his passing in 2006 left an unfillable place in the hearts and imaginations of his friends and colleagues. He was so many things, they would tell you. In our cover feature's gathering of memories, they have told us the good, the best, the rest. He was a high-test mix, but you had to take the whole package, which may be his real legacy; that what is essentially human is how our complexities create each one of us. Bottom line: If those who know you best are the ones who love you best, it turned out right. It did.
