Our cover image for this issue is both as emblematic as a heart and as real as the pulse in your wrist. Like our cover feature, this butterfly has been on a long, patient journey. Yet here she is. Again. To artist James McNeil Whistler, she meant "the spirit released", and he signed his paintings with her imprint. For us, she carried the spirit of our story, and we signed it with her enduring presence. So here's to the circuitous route. Here's to the angel who decided not to tell the dandelion that yellow was reserved for the Emperor. Here's to those days we suddenly see not the Big Picture, but the Great Journey. And here's to hope, pointing the way.
