Our “Best of Show” winner from this year’s Star of the North Meeting photo exhibition is Jay White’s “The Young and the Old”. Visiting the ancient ruins of Angkor Thom in Cambodia, Mr. White was camera-ready when this young boy was lifted into the frame by his parents. The contrast was remarkable, irresistible; yet what made the image indelible was the connection. Here were the distant past and the vibrant future creating a presence that spoke to both. Thus are we again instructed, as we are by every passing day, to be present in our own lives. And Star of the North days continue to give us the tools to do that.
