What you are looking at is the healthy human jaw; a thing of beauty, in fact. Also in fact, it is vulnerable to a variety of disease states, which current medicine has responded to,  on one front, with potent antiresorptive agents call bisphosphonates (BP), whose longterm administration is associated with BP-related osteonecrosis of the jaw. As dentists face  such challenges from sources outside their central area of expertise, the core question, “How do we maintain a healthy mouth?” needs answers from the leading edge of research.  Our cover feature presents a new treatment modality that may be beneficial in this complex scenario.
