It was just a few short years ago — 2011 to be exact — that our cover featured our first image of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). We didn’t even have to hit “fast-forward” to ride the accelerated learning curve of today’s orthodontic specialty and arrive at the latest/newest tool to advance the work these folks are able to do: three-dimensional CBCT. What we needed next was context. Enter the U of M School of Dentistry’s Orthodontics Division director Dr. Brent Larson to inform and instruct us on the state of his art and science, and give that ideal beautiful smile a foundation for healthy function. So it’s time to locate your landmarks, everyone. The realm of possibility has just extended its borders.
