Minnesota Dental Foundation
The Minnesota Dental Foundation is a nonprofit philanthropic foundation that was created by the MDA as a means for dentists and others to experience the collective power of giving, with an opportunity to invest in the future of dentistry and the future of the people and communities it serves.
After being dormant for many years, the Minnesota Dental Foundation was revived in 1999 after receiving funding of $70,000 as a bequest in the will of Dr. Robert Reed, Faribault, Minnesota. In 2001 the Foundation was merged with the Endowment and Assistance Fund, whose main purpose was to help fund scholarships and provide additional relief grants and aid to dentists in crisis. Today the Minnesota Dental Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit foundation that is managed by the Minnesota Dental Foundation Board of Directors with a purpose of providing financial support to outreach programs serving underserved populations, allied dental education programs and other community health initiatives. The vision statement of the Minnesota Dental Foundation is to eliminate unmet oral health needs in Minnesota.
Mission Statement
The Mission of the Minnesota Dental Foundation is to:
- Initiate and support outreach programs that provide dental services to underserved populations and communities;
- Promote dental health education initiatives;
- Encourage and support volunteerism with the profession;
- Support dental research in academic and community settings; and
- Support professional education and promote careers in dentistry.
