Job Description

Job Title: Office Manager
Reports To: Business Manager and Dentists
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Responsible for administering the day-to-day activities of the business office including patient and employee relations, staff interviewing and dismissal, management of marketing and communications, and ensuring regulatory compliance as well as staff training and motivation by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Manages day-to-day operations of the dental office.*

2. Manages and directs staff assignments and activities in accordance with office policy and applicable laws, including OSHA.*

3. Knows and follows dental office contingency plan.*

4. Stays current with trends, legislation, and regulations in the dental profession.*

5. Manages patient financial accounts.*

6. Manages the hiring and ongoing performance of staff.*

7. Manages and updates office computer systems.*

8. Oversees patient relations including explaining office policy and handling patient complaints.*

9. Helps support office staff as needed, to include appointment scheduling, collections, and insurance.*

10. Monitors patient relations with regular patient satisfaction surveys.*

11. Assigns, directs, and manages staff duties as assigned by the dentist.*

12. Determines staff schedules.*

13. Recruits, interviews, and hires employees as directed by the dentist.*

14. Orients and trains new staff.*

15. Organizes training staff on OSHA compliance.*

16. Monitors staff performance.*

17. Conducts staff salary reviews.*
18. Coordinates team meetings.*

19. Engages in conflict resolution.*

20. Makes business travel arrangements for dentist and staff as needed.*

21. Maintains employment records.*

22. Updates and maintains employee office manual.*

23. Oversees the design of marketing and promotional materials.*

24. Manages the dental office advertising and recruiting advertisements for new staff.*

25. Coordinates event planning, conference travel, volunteering, mentoring programs, community outreach, and similar programs.*

26. Assists with dental office facility management.*
