There has been much discussion over a number of years about the dental access problem for underserved people. People define “dental access” in a variety of different ways. Some think of it as needy folks not being able to find a dentist at all…others think of it as not being able to get a dental appointment as soon as they’d like…and still others have no idea (or they believe there really is no problem).
We know that many local communities, public health organizations, faith-based groups, private organizations – including the MDA --and many others have been actively creating dental access programs based on their own local needs and resources. While many of these activities are well known, such as our Give Kids a Smile program, there are probably many more that only “the locals” are aware of. We’d like to learn more about what’s happening in your town to address dental access for underserved people for a number of reasons, not the least of which is to help communities learn from each other’s successes.
The MDA is seeking information that only YOU can provide! Please take just a few moments to Take the Survey and click the “Submit” button when you’re done. Your information will be compiled by the MDA and disseminated on our web site, www.mndental.org. In this way, dentists and lay people can more easily network with others who have a similar goal to meet dental access needs cost-effectively and efficiently.
Thank you for your help!
