The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry has asked us to inform members of an upcoming workshop for future employers of dental therapists. Information about what will be covered and the location of the workshop are listed below.
Let’s talk business.
In 2008, the Minnesota legislature authorized the licensure of a new dental provider called a dental therapist, and dentists around the country are watching with interest as the first class prepares to graduate in 2011.
The University of Minnesota is educating dental therapists to work as a member of the dental team who will enhance the capacity of the existing network of dental practices to see more patients and to do so in a cost effective manner.
Who are these new professionals? How and what are they being taught? Where can they practice and what dental services will they be licensed to provide? What do potential employers need to know about collaborative management agreements, and what are their professional responsibilities and liabilities?
Learn the answers to these questions and more at this first-of-its-kind workshop. You’ll review the legislation, dispel myths and misinformation, find out about collaborative management agreements, and learn what you need to know before employing a dental therapist in your practice. There’ll be time to answer your questions, too.
