Dentists today know that a growing amount of evidence suggests that periodontal disease and systemic health are associated, but how educated are patients on this topic? To help in educating patients about the impact that oral health can have on overall health and well-being, the MDA has created a new campaign, Healthy Gums, Healthy You. The focus of the campaign is on the association between periodontal disease and heart disease and diabetes.
To assist dentists with educating patents on this topic, two flyers are available for printing right in your dental office. Space is available to personalize the flyer with your office contact information (by using a stamp or sticker). It is recommended that these be printed two-sided and in color.
A tri-fold brochure giving a brief overview of gum disease and its association to diabetes and heart disease is also available by completing a supply order form. (If you have questions about sales tax, please refer to this tax calculator.)
In addition, the American Academy of Periodontology offers a risk assessment test as an educational tool for patients to see if they are at risk for having or developing periodontal disease.
*Please note: If you are having trouble printing, please email the MDA at firstname.lastname@example.org. We'll send you a PDF copy via email.
