The Saint Paul District Dental Society (SPDDS) is pleased to offer Junior and Senior University of Minnesota dental students this scholarship opportunity. The scholarship is in memory of Dr. George S. Monson, a former Saint Paul dentist. His family left a bequest to the SPDDS for the purpose of contributing to dental health education in his name.
SPDDS is awarding several scholarships to third and fourth year dental students. (These grants are from the Saint Paul District Dental Society Fund of the Minneapolis Foundation.) In past years, these scholarships have ranged from $2,000 – $3,000 in amounts awarded.
As an organization of member dentists, the SPDDS hopes to award scholarships to students who have demonstrated good character, a commitment to school and community and a connection to the Saint Paul area that may include being a graduate from a Saint Paul high school, being a current resident of Saint Paul, or having immediate family currently living in Saint Paul. This includes the following counties: Dakota, Ramsey, Chisago and Washington.
To be considered eligible for these scholarships, students must provide the following information to the SPDDS by Monday, November 27, 2017. The Dr. George S. Monson Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the SPDDS Midwinter Meeting on January 19, 2018 and recipients will be invited at no fee.
