Morning Session 
Richard Small, J.D., presents, “Risk Management Strategies to Reduce Dental Liability.” Mr. Small practices law in Michigan. He spent the first 20 years of his law practice defending dentists in court in Michigan and other states. He became an insurance agent for OMSNIC and Fortress in 2000. He is currently the Executive Director and General Counsel for the Michigan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Afternoon Session 
Dr. Richard Nadeau, D.D.S., M.P.H., is Director of the Division of Comprehensive Care and of Clinical Treatment Planning at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Dr. Nadeau was in private practice in Minneapolis, Minnesota until joining the School of Dentistry faculty in 1993. He will be presenting on recordkeeping requirements for the Minnesota Board of Dentistry, including how to assess your patient records to ensure that they meet the standards of Minnesota law. When a complaint is made to the Board of Dentistry, the dental record becomes a critical component in the response and resolution process. Make sure that you are confident in the records you are keeping for your patients.

MDA Legal Counsel Angela Amann and MDA Regulatory Affairs Manager Bridgett Anderson will host discussion regarding delegation of duties, Minnesota Dental Practice Act, Minnesota Board of Dentistry administrative rules, and infection control complaints and requirements.

Guest(s) from Minnesota Board of Dentistry will participate in question and answer panel.
