Dr. Richard Wiberg Receives 2016 Guest of Honor Award

Dr. Richard Wiberg was selected as the recipient of the Minnesota Dental Association (MDA) 2016 Guest of Honor Award. He was honored by nearly 9,000 dental professionals the Star of the North Meeting, the MDA’s annual convention, at the RiverCentre in St. Paul.

Dr. Wiberg received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and had a successful general dentistry practice in St. Paul until his retirement in 2012. Throughout his professional career he was actively involved at the district, state and national association levels. At the Saint Paul District Dental Society he served as its president in 1993-94, and for many years he served on district committees, such as the Midwinter Committee Chair and as a delegate to the MDA House of Delegates. Dr. Wiberg was awarded the Outstanding Service Award by the Saint Paul District in 2008.

His involvement with the Minnesota Dental Association included service as a district trustee, as a delegate to the ADA House of Delegates, and as a board member of the Minnesota Dental PAC and the Minnesota Dental Foundation. He served as MDA president in 2006-07.

Dr. Wiberg has been involved over the years in many charitable dentistry activities, most notably as a volunteer dentist for Give Kids a Smile, Minnesota Mission of Mercy, Union Gospel Mission, and Donated Dental Services (DDS).

In 2006 Dr. Wiberg was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a distinction awarded to those dentists who have exemplified excellence through outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to dentistry.
